I’m here today to make a simple unboxing video of the Electribe 2 Sampler (Black version).
I hope you will find this video useful (even if it is available in Italy since 2015) because if you are like me, when you are undecided about what to buy you will appreciate to know what is in the box that will arrive at your home, this speech is valid both when you buy new items but also and maybe especially when you go to buy used instruments and want to understand if they have sent you everything, if you are considering the Electribe watch this video.

We then proceed to open the box, we find the user manual in various languages (Italian not included of course), ABLETON LIVE 9 LITE version licence, 9 Volt POWER SUPPLY, Jack-MIDI DIN female adapters. And obviously ELECTRIBE.
What is not included but could be useful are the SYNC CABLES and the BAG for transport that you can find on Amazon or the best musical instrument stores.
This instrument, as you know, is dedicated to music production in the studio but can also be used in live performances.
There are two models of Electribe, the sampler and the normal, both is right to consider them GROOVEBOX, today I will show you the Sampler model available in black version exists on the market since 2016 also in red version.

The Sampler version is the successor of the red ELECTRIBE SX and the normal version is the successor of the blue ELECTRIBE MX.
Both have a step sequencer controlled by 16 pads that can also be used as a keyboard, each of these pads can be assigned to either synths or drums.
The SWING function can be assigned to each part, which will allow excellent custom GROOVE.
The TOUCHPAD on the left can generate numerous effects that intervene on the audio but also on the TRIGGER of the MIDI notes allowing you to intervene directly during your LIVESET.
Among the main effects that I must mention there is the compressor and the OVERDRIVE assignable to each part.
ABLETON chapter that I have to mention, the ELECTRIBE can export entire projects for this DAW, the Patterns generate for ABLETON entire SCENES subdivided in the respective CLIP.
Let’s take a look at the connections on the back, there are LINE IN and OUT connectors both AUDIO and MIDI also present in the VOLCA series always by KORG; where indicated MIDI you have to use the adapters previously seen in the original box.
ELECTRIBE can be powered with the special power supply in the original KORG box or with 6 AA batteries, the battery compartment is at the bottom of the GROOVEBOX which can be accessed by removing the door.
On the side we see that there is a USB type B socket to connect it to your workstation, the cable is not included in the package but it is the same as your smartphone so you should already have it at home, also see the housing for the memory, the card is not included in the package and must be purchased separately, if you decide to use an SD CARD remember that ELECTRIBE according to the site KORG can mount a card from 512MB to 2GB, while if you want to use an SDHC you can use a memory up to 32GB.

I make an OFFTOPIC parenthesis for an UNBOXING video maybe more suitable for a future review video, ELECTRIBE can store up to 499 Samples for a total duration of 270 seconds.
A total of 250 Patterns can be stored which is the equivalent of 250 SCENES on ABLETON.

Closed my parenthesis OFFTOPIC, before the greetings I leave you a personal advice when you’re starting to hack on ELECTRIBE, download the manual of the PARAMETERS GUIDE available on the KORG site (here’s the link: http://bit.ly/ParameterGuideElectribe2 ), study it is certainly much more useful than the user manual (obviously not in Italian).
Well, we’re at the end, if you have any questions or ideas for a video review of the ELECTRIBE 2 SAMPLER, write to me in the comments, and if you enjoyed my article and video don’t spare yourself with likes and shares.
